Pace questions
How do I convert pace to speed?
They are reciprocals: speed in km/h = 60 ÷ pace in minutes per km. A 5:00/km pace is 12.0 km/h, and 6:00/km is 10.0 km/h. This page shows both, because treadmills and bike computers speak in km/h while race splits are almost always written in minutes per kilometre.
Why does my watch show a different average pace?
Almost always moving time versus elapsed time. Most watches and Strava stop the clock when you stop, so their average covers only the time you were actually running. A pace worked out from total elapsed time, the number a timing mat records, will be slower. For a race result, use elapsed time.
Is the same pace the same effort on every course?
No. A kilometre climbing 4% costs far more than the same kilometre on flat ground, even though your watch shows the same number. That is what Grade Adjusted Pace is for: it estimates the flat-ground pace that would have cost the same effort. A calculator cannot know your course, it only knows the numbers you typed. Crenoe reads the elevation from the run itself.
Crenoe
You typed that pace. Crenoe reads the one you ran.
This page turns numbers into numbers. Connect Strava and Crenoe reads the run itself: every split, corrected for the hills you climbed, plus how far your pace drifted from the first half to the second, the part a calculator can never see.
